不会骑马的骑士

“Where are all the monkeys?” the young lady chaperoning a group of children to the zoo asked an attendant.
　
“This is their mating season,” he replied.   “They are all back in the cages.”
　
“Oh,” said the lady, then after a moment's thought, “the children are terribly disappointed.   Do you think if they threw peanuts into the cages the monkeys would come out?”
　
“I don't know, lady,” the attendant replied laconically.   “Would you?”

「這是牠們交配的季節，」他回答。「牠們都回到籠子裡了。」
　
「呃，」女士說，然後在一剎那的思索之後說：「孩子們都極為失望。如果他們丟花生進籠子裡，你想猴子會出來嗎？」
　
「小姐，我不知道，」服務員簡潔地回答，「你會嗎？」
